In August the share of Android mobile platform reached a quarter of all US mobile traffic, as stated in the blog of the analytical company Quantcast.
In comparison with the figures for May, the share of Google OS has increased by 30%. For this period, the number of devices based on Apple iOS has decreased by 15%.
At the same time the Apple platform is still the leader of the mobile traffic in the USA. As a result, most mobile application developers create their applications especially for this platform. 56% of the general volume of data transmitted via mobile Internet belongs to Apple. Android occupies the second place and BlackBerry smartphones are on the third place with 9%.
It should be noted that in the second quarter of 2010 Android overcame Apple iOS and BlackBerry became the best selling platform for smartphones in the USA. In April – June about 5 mln smartphones based on Google OS were sold in the USA, which has exceeded the figures from Canadian RIM and Apple. However, the leader of the smartphone market by the general number of mobile devices is still the Finnish Nokia.
